On the 3rd of June 2025 we joined the EARA BOARD#25 Campaign! We celebrated Imperial Openness about the use of Animals in Research explaining why we use animals and what we do to improve the 3Rs at the University with a video featuring Dr David Peeler, research fellow in the Department of Materials and Department of Infectious Disease. For the Campaign, David shared his journey to develop self-amplify RNA vaccine delivery systems and why mice models are still crucial in immunology research. David also explains the routes to improving the 3Rs in his studies using human skin, imaging techniques and support from the Imperial 3RsHub

For the Campaign we also produced a video explaining how and why zebrafish are used at Imperial College London and how our experienced staff provides environmental enrichment to enhance their health and the quality of the research. From advanced imaging techniques to study cancer, to studying the recruitment of myeloid cells to injury sites and to model cardiac arrhythmias and muscle dysfunctions, Zebrafish are a cornerstone of our biomedical research.

On the 25th of October 2024, the 3Rs Hub was protagonist of a Friday Forum to celebrate the new website and discuss how use of animal models in research has evolved at Imperial and nationwide. The events was part of the Imperial College London Good Science Project and hosted panelists Robert Floyd, John MeredithVictoria Male, and Richard van Arkel to discuss about the wider perspectives on animal research.
